A Part of Everything

My meditation practice is often scattered throughout the day. Some days it’s my first focus. Some days (hello, yesterday) it’s a late-night exercise to quiet my brain so that I can please just please get some sleep, it’s been very noisy in my head.

These nights, simply sitting quietly to empty my mind simply doesn’t work. Instead I need to find a focusing activity that allows the noise to fade out. I often find myself picking up a brush, pen (maybe a brush pen!), or stylus. Smooth lines, soothing colors, beautiful words. Sometimes, a spark of inspiration to remind me that I am connected to everything around me.
